those conspiract theory questions were rhetorical BTW....

But since you have brought it up, the GPG ciphers, why didn't they include
XOR encoding, its as strong as Blowfish. 3Des and RSA were strong
alrgorithms about 6 years ago..... doing google on these cipher names throws
up more attaks and cracking rings that you can shake a stick at. The biggest
problem with cryptography today is the proper usage awareness. The US was
very sucessful in lulling everyone into a false sense of security, "Relase
strong crypto for export", "128bit RSA is secure", while in fact, at that
time, it was breakable in 45 days by just about any of the 7 dedicated hard
core cracking rings that existed. That was about two or three years ago,
wonder how it holds up today?.
