Why is there no common format
recognised by browsers for
saving/opening "web documents",
I.E. tar.gz of a folder containing
html file(s) and pictures etc.
Mozilla (and probably others) already has
the feature where you can save "html complete",
which creates a folder and modifies the URLs
so they're relative etc. automatically, and
saves all the pictures etc.
It would be easy to extend this to tar.gz it
and just save it as file.wff for e.g.
It would get rid of a lot of the need for
word documents as this would be at least
as standard as word. Very few people would
need the exact layout advantages that word
gives you. Also it's a lot easier to create,
than pdf files.
Obviously M$ wouldn't like this, but
you could create a very simple "viewer"
for doze that extracts the file to $TMP
and points IExplorer at it.
