Apparently up until last week the top-end service was the only one where
Eircom WOULD countenance your using something other than their equipment. I
know Paul Kelly (he of the £30 ADSL card) has this service and was able to
use his own equipment, and he had ADSL installed before last Friday.

So does this mean then that no ADSL router will work in anything other than
idiot bridged mode ? In which case there's hardly any point buying anything
other than the £30 ADSL card, if your not going to be able to use is
advanced functionality. I was going to buy a router, because then I'd have
NAT etc. done in a nice little box and wouldn't have to worry into the
future about breaking things with kernel changes but it seems that that's
not going to be an option.
