[ILUG] getting postfix to do secure smtp

Hi,
I've been trying for the last few hours to get Postfix, running on redhat 9, to work with smtps (i.e. ssl on port 465).
I've had no luck what so ever. sometimes I think I get near but it's still failing. I even rebuilt the rpm for postfix to ensure sasl2 support was there. It seemed to work because previous warning about no sasl support went away.
Currently, mozilla (1.7b) connects and just sits there. Log just shows a connect.
Can anyone tell me:
1) Does the redhat dist support this out of the box (just to confirm). I don't think so myself.
2) Has anyone got it working?
3) Are there any good howtos out there?
4) This can't be that hard to do!!! I'm missing something very fundamental here... have to be.
Anyway, any help or hints appreciated. It's for allowing people to relay email from outside, using their username/password securely.
Sorry to be so vague but I'm just wreaked after this session. It's silly.
Cheers!
Tim
