Not particularly, given that not all users will use the full 1GB (in fact, I
doubt any of them will. Building up 1GB of mail usually takes a few months of
careless abandonment). 

That, and a terabyte of cheap storage can be had for under a grand these days
(assuming you're not buying large arrays in bulk, which I'd imagine google
is). A million users? Before the groin-grabbingly nice hardware bulk discount
google almost certainly get, you're talking a couple hundred grand, max.
That's assuming a milion users, each using their full gig. Which will not be
happening for a long, long time.
