Does anyone know a good way to try and find out the origins of popular 
Linux software.   I am working on an ILUG LiveCD for EXPO and I had the 
(possibly crazy) idea of trying to do some sort of round the EU in FOSS, 
maybe even just a page which highlights contributions from all the EU 
member states (and new members and accession members)?   Of course I'd 
really like to have all the software on the cd aswell so it should be 
normal and useful ... (I ask a lot)

Here is a list of the countries and some things software which came 
straight to mind (not much !!!).   Any ideas on how to find more, or 
anything people can think of ...
