Don't do this.  At all.  Don't even try to notify the sender.
While it may have made sense a few years ago to do this, these
days most viruses fake the sender, often using a real, valid
email address.  So you'll end up either notifying nobody
(as in your current problem), or you'll notify some innocent
party.

Have you noticed emails arriving at ilug at linux.ie warning about
message that ilug at linux.ie supposedly sent that contained 
viruses?  Please don't contribute to this by notifying 
apparent senders.

Just drop the message completely.
