[ILUG] X clipboard weirdness

I just hit ^V in a form text input box in Mozilla to paste in some text I had 
highlighted in a terminal. As happens more often than one would like with 
Linux, thanks to the joys of the X clipboard, selection etc. I didn't get 
what I wanted. Nothing unusual there - normal procedure is to highlight the 
desired text AGAIN and then ^V will possibly work.

But this time, I got something really strange - what was pasted into the text 
form was a couple of paragraphs of text from a project that I haven't worked 
on for weeks. Where the hell might that have come from?

This computer has been turned on and off numerous times since I last worked on 
that project, and it goes without saying that the X clipboard has had 
numerous different things in there since I worked on that project.
