[ILUG] Systems crashing on disk activity

 Sometimes, a flash of the drive firmware can sort it out. Memories of
trying to find a file corruption problem on some sun hardware that
couldn't be solved until the addition of a second new drive into a large
RAID array with dodgy firmware crashed the box. 

 The recent IBM SCSI drives actually crash if they are put in an intel
SR2300 before they are flashed to the most recent upgrade. You put one of
those into a running machine, and *bang*.

 Maybe find out what the drives are, find out is there a firmware upgrade,
and do that.
