The "semi-technical" are the problematic ones on both Windows and Linux, they similarly give out about copy-and-paste on the MSDOS command prompt, and give out that they cannot figure out how to use Autocad (without reading anything ever about CAD, not to mind Autocad)...

...whereas the non-techies tend to be open to learning and to working around any limitations they find, and are coming from a mindset that they may be doing something wrong, so they don't automatically go into bitching mode.  I don't think Linux on the desktop will be quite as bad as you think.
