Wow.  We _really_ don't have common ground for discussion.

Well, no.  The main point is the thinner cables, with a small additional
gain from reduced power consumption (resulting indirectly from the much
lower voltage).  So, tinier, cooler drives in tinier boxes.  Otherwise,
there's not much substantive improvement.
