See above.
SCSI drives maintain lots of statistics, in various table, but the
only tool on Linux to easily retrieve them is no longer maintained
and hard to find. IDE/S-ATA disks and more recent SCSI disks also
support SMART (though SCSI supports a few basic stats), and linux has
utilities to query and monitor SMART status.
