Thanks, that sounds very plausible.
I should have said that the problem only occurred when good people are asleep,
I think 2am-4am, or something like that.
It was resolved the next morning.

For a moment, I lost my total faith in Sir Anthony,
and even turned his image to the wall.

By the way, 
I've always found Eircom ADSL people very helpful and knowledgeable
(at least by comparison with me).
Some people seem to have been programmed to go into hysterical mode
when the word "Eircom" appears.
