I couldn't tell you whether it is maintained or not. Only
that it was functional at one point.

You want me to use LinuxBIOS? What ever for?
You want me to give you a good logical reason to break your
working system? Why would I. You now know that you are far
from forced to use the nvidia binary drivers. What you do with
that information is your own business. Just don't ask me to
fix or advice on any bugs/instability caused as a result of
using the nvidia binary drivers. This is what this thread
was originally about, remember? Undiagnosable interactions
between the fbdev/fbcon layer, X, and the nvidia binary
I'm not sure what your point about flashing bios's is. The
patch uses vesa calls.
