Ah right. I only make payments.

Hmm, I cant remember. I dont think so though. I did buy various 
things from states from Ebay. Last thing I bought from states, I got 
a call from the consignee to say I'd have to pay several hundred in 
duty to have it released (the sender had way overmarked it's worth). 
The usual tactic of "ah, but it's old obsolete second hand computer 
gear", which always previously had succeeded to have duty charges 
waived, only reduced it to somewhere in the hundred odd euro. So I 
suspect there's been a tightening on application import duty policy.

Since then, I've stuck to Euro zone. Mostly from Germany. 0 problems, 
other than that some germans can be uncommunicative (my failure to 
speak german probably).

Biggest problem has been with AIB actually. The germans invariably 
prefer bank transfers, few take credit cards or paypal, and AIB 
24hour always seem to insist that IBAN number + SWIFT code + account 
name is not sufficient, and that I have to transfer the money via a 
different process because it is a transaction to a business account. 
Funnily enough this different process costs ~27 euro, rather than ~57 
cent, though I'm sure this has no bearing on AIB wanting me to avail 
of it.

So often you have to insist, *repeatedly*, that the IBAN+SWIFT 
process is the one you want, until the AIB 24hour person gives in.

2 weeks odd later, new toys from Germany. :)
