In fact it is much easier in my experience to connect with gnokii
than it is to use minicom or cu or whatever.
Also the range of commands you can give with gnokii
is far wider than the possible AT commands.
How for example do you get messages 3 to 7 in your inbox with AT commands?
With gnokii you just say "gnokii --getsms IN 3 7".
Is there an AT command to dump your address-book?
Etc, etc.
