states kernel 2.4.26 or 2.6.6 (with source) is required at a minimum 
while distrowatch lists Suse 8.1 as using 2.4.19

So unless you have updated your kernel to a suitably new version you 
will probably be out of luck.  Perhaps an old version of ndiswrapper 
will work?  A quick look in rpm search didn't find any rpms of 
ndiswrapper for Suse 8.1
