  | I bought [ an Epson C64 ] a couple of weeks

  | So, in summary, what were the steps you took to get this
  | printer working.

downloaded the correct software for my printer from EPKowa
(my printer is not a C6x-series but a lower-end model).

 ran the install scripts.

(later) added “modprobe printer‟ to the rc file to insure
that that USB module was present (AFAICR, I had problems
if the system rebooted when the printer was on(?)).

added it to my LPng /etc/printcap (I don't use CUPS),
as a PostScript printer (since that seems to be one
of the c.3(?) inputs the EPKowa software accepts).

my default printer is a pseudo-printer which uses
`apsfilter' to feed that PostScript printer.

I do not use The Gimp (much), and on the (very rare!)
occasions I want to print an image, I use xv(1) to
convert it to PostScript ..... (on fact, I did not
know you could print from The Gimp; and now, after a
_quick_ look at the pull-down menus in 1.2.2, still
don't see anything for printing?) _guessing_, I
could probably feed some image formats directly to
the `apsfilter'-default, since it seems to be able
to handle a lot of stuff; besides PostScript, about
the only format I feed directly (sometimes) is DVI.

AFAICR, it was all very straightforward.

cheers!
