Ahh - but Linux doesn't provide enough info to do 'lsof -o'.

I submitted a kernel patch to make the "size" of the
/proc/PID/fd/X symlinks be the offset, but it was rejected 
on the grounds that some userland depends on the current
hard-coded size of these symlinks.

Which sounds completely stupid to me.
