Yup - and I've just turned off a server which was doing MX backup for a couple
of dozen domains, and basically doing very little for those domains but
handling spam bounces from non existent addresses which a secondary MX
couldn't reject at SMTP time. It seems to me that with the reilability of the
current internet, the original requirement for a backup MX is not really there
anymore, and all they now do is serve as spam vectors.
I'll be sure to let the list know if anything untoward happens.
