Yes sometimes this is the case, especially if its a network related issue.
Othertimes when no panic is logged (disk subsystem issue) netdump is usefull.

But if neither are being logged, then you can use serial console redirection.

p.s.: I dont believe there is an onboard NIC on that box. Is there?
So if not you added one, what is is ?????
Its not a broadcom by any chance? tg3 driver?
If so, then I know the solution :)
