I have a windows network drive that I am trying to access from a linux box.
After running the command mount -t smbfs -o username=<username>
//winbox/share /lin_mnt_point
Then I'm prompted for the password which I duly enter. I cd into the newly
mounted directory, and do an 'ls'
The command window then hangs. It just sits there and does nothing. I try
and kill the ls command that is hanging, and even a -9 on it will not do
anything to it.
I then do a tail -f /var/log/messages and get the following
Jul 12 11:01:14 gummage kernel: IN=eth0 OUT=
MAC=ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:00:c0:9f:17:19:a5:08:00 SRC=<range of internal IP
addresses> DST=<range of internal IP addresses> LEN=263 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00
TTL=128 ID=31650 PROTO=UDP SPT=138 DPT=138 LEN=243
Then, I am unable to unmount the directory as the ls still running on it,
so trying to reboot the box complains about being unable to
<start block>
unmount the drive smb_add_request: request [0e932e80, mid=6] timed out!
unmount the drive smb_add_request: request [0e932e80, mid=7] timed out!
/home/mount_dir/Input/output error
umount : /home/<mount_dir> Device or resource busy
<End block>
the above is repeated about 10 times during reboot, over the course of
about 10/15minutes
The machine I am doing is on is a Dell Inspiron 2600 with FC2, with a 3Com
3c905C-TX/TX-M NIC. I've tried the same with another machine (FC1 desktop)
but no errors there.
I'm thinking the card is having issues, but was wondering if anybody else
had other ideas or suggestions?
TIA,
R
