ports when I had to sync it on a 4.2 system to a modern day equivalent circa 
FBSD 4.9, wasn't doable.

Maybe, if I could sanction and upgrade things would build again, the *best* I 
did was a 4.5 minimal system to 4.9 on the test box, which to my mind meant 
migrating the 4.2 systems to 4.5, then the 4.5 systems to 4.9.

Two complete rebuilds through seven minor release numbers... what could 
possibly go wrong?

Given that sort of antiquity, I'd like to see any system upgrade well.


I've been driving with a great big nail in the back wheel of my motorcycle for 
the last month fyi.

It reminds me to drive slow.

/Must fix that.
