Well, my recommendation for a server would be CentOS 3.1 - it's Redhat
Enterprise compatible, without the difficulty of having to update with the
redhat up2date software.
Get that, add the following to your /etc/yum.conf -
[jpackage15-rhes3]
name=JPackage 1.5 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 3
baseurl=http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/jpackage/direct_download/1.5/redhat-es-3/free/
gpgcheck=1
[jpackage15-generic]
name=JPackage 1.5, generic
baseurl=http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/jpackage/direct_download/1.5/generic/free/
gpgcheck=1
And then you can run "yum install tomcat5" or whatever. There are some
tricks you'll need to pull, as tomcat is this demented mess of free and
non-free software, but that makes it a lot easier.
