Yes thats a good idea, but I would feel better with several layers of
redundancy.

I normally have RAIDed volumes, rsync to another workstation for important
data, and lastly tape backup. And this is only for my home setup. Work is
_far_ more paranoid :)

My son microwaved my wifes mobile phone (there was a fire), he threw mine
into the pond and my dad's into the toilet.
He also filled my computers full of lego (still trying to figure out how)
which stopped the fans from operating correctly. Luckily there was no real
damage.

My little brother (years back) peed into my mothers VCR.
You just cannot think of all eventualities :--)
