Is yppasswd running on the YP server ? I have seen installations where
yppasswdd was NOT running and instead there was a cronjob running very often
to rebuild the maps, so on average a change would take 1/2 x (cronjob
interval) to be "deployed".
Another possible culprit is nscd - check how it's set up.
Are there multiple YP servers ? If not, then there is no deploying involved
and the clients will see a change as soon as the map has been rebuilt on the
server, so you need to see why the maps aren't immediately rebuilt (and of
course, the caveat here is that I'm assuming nscd is not getting in the way).
