I built a MythBox a while ago.
It's a Shuttle XPC case (sn41g2, with an nforce2 chipset).
Myth is not easy to set up, but there is some good documentation,
In particular "Jarod's guide" ( http://wilsonet.com/mythtv ).
I got most of the pieces from Komplett.ie which seemed fairly
competitive at the time, and were quite good with delivery.
The only thing I didn't get there was the pvr350. I got it
on impulse one day in Peats, so I don't know where to find it cheap...
I'm pretty satisfied with the whole thing, except that the shuttle is
fairly noisy. I think one can get a quieter fan for it, but I don't know
where.
As for distro, I went with Gentoo, mainly because I was already used to
it. Jarod's guide is written with Fedora in mind so it's probably easier
with that.
I still haven't built a IR transmitter to change channels on the NTL
box, so I'd be quite interested about how you got on with that one.
Hope this helps,
Phil
