hrmmm.

I'm quite sure there is some sort of global font behaviour control going on in 
Gnome, maybe it's part of Gnome's default wm 'metacity?'.

The size is probably at least one size bigger, when not running under Gnome.

The rendering itself is fine, but, there has to be some sort of scheme in use 
for GTK which is imposed when running Gnome.

I could read up on configuring gtk based fonts, or run Gnome... or live with it 
and grumble about it on ILUG. I was hoping someone else running fluxbox, 
blackbox or just !Gnome would have done this already.
