This is a really good article summarising the
current trend of people switching to mozilla/firefox:

Let's face it, the computer industry in general is
not going to change wholesale to a Linux desktop.
Even though this is a fast moving industry it is
still defined by evolution rather than revolution.
Even companies in very strong positions find it difficult
to convince people to switch to better technologies.
A recent example of this is AMD doing well with x86-64
which is backwards compatible with existing x86 architectures.
Intel had said that they were making a completely new
incompatible 64 bit system, but have had to resort to
supporting the AMD instructions.
So the question is, how does one help people evolve
away from a proprietry system to an opensource one?
Well getting the web browser to be opensource is
the most important step I think, so I would
encourage you to send this link to as many Microsoft
Internet Explorer users as possible.

Most people I've sent it to have tried it and
have been very grateful.
