Oh, no basic filtering is done to prevent such bounces/etc getting to the 
list ? 
I thought that it should be possible to configure the mailing list to ignore 
such messages with spamassasin/etc. 
I moderate a mailing list for openoffice where I get well over 1000 mails per 
day to moderate (frequently over 2000), but the simple perl script I have 
removes most of the crud leaving me with about 20-40 mails to check for 
moderation.
If anyone is interested in this script they are more than welcome to use it.
