If it's eircom that set it up - go for their Cayman router - it's 
painless - the simplest method is to plug it into your switch and use it 
as DHCP.

The method I use is to plug it into a second ethernet card on my main 
computer and use that computer to provide firewalls, etc, for the rest 
of the local net, allowing you to keep your original net config (the 
eircom modem comes pre-configured as a DHCP server for 192.168.1.x).
