Hi All,
I'm tearing my hair out trying to get sound working with a 2.6 Kernel
(2.6.3).

The sound device is an intel i810, and here's what I've tried so far:
1. Installing the latest alsa everything, following all instructions
2. Installing oss compatibility.
3. Setting the permissions on /dev/dsp /dev/sequencer /dev/snd*
/dev/midi* /dev/mixer
4. Ensuring that no muting in in place with alsamixer, and aumixer

Here's the weird thing: When running aRts Control along with a sound
application (e.g. noatun) the levels are moving as if music is being
played.

I was even starting to think that the speakers were all that was wrong,
but changed them to a set of headphones, to make sure it wasn't.

This sound device was working under the stock fedora code 1 kernel
(2.4.22) (I know 2.6 uses alsa instead of oss, this is why i've also
laoded oss).

Having said this, If I no boot back to 2.4.22, its not working either
now (probably due changing modules.conf or modprobe.conf).

Ahhhhynyway. Anyone got this working- I reall think I've done
everything according to every FAQ I can find.

Cheers,
Dermot.
