[ILUG] why can't my pc access other computers through its network card?

nothing, that's the strange thing. i hardly ever use this pc. my da checked
his emails on the night when things stopped working but he knows absolutely
nothing about computers and his account on the pc has hardly any
permissions on the pc.

could it be some kind of package that i need? could it be that the eth1
card is faulty?
