Consider the fact that Eircom.net and Eircom.ie share the same netblock
(159.134.0.0/16) and that a simple typo whilst making an ACL change to
the router / firewall in front of eircom.ie could also cause this
problem, taking the blame away from your provider once again.

As stated in a previous post by myself, this is an issue that has
happened before, and one that the helpdesk are aware of. Perhaps you
could let us know the IP address assigned to you when you are having
problems, and also what PoP you are connecting to.

That's an either / or situation really. However, you have a contract
with your service provider, therefor they have the obligation to look
into the issue for you, whereas an individual webmaster would not.
