Because there is a fairly large current debate on the use of software
patents and Amazon still hold (or do they?) a controversial one on the use
of one-click patents. I recall that users of open source
software were asked a few years ago to boycott it and I do not remember
that being stopped.
Whether I am for or against patents is not an issue and neither am I
stating my position there(*). I just did not see the point in deliberatly
pissing people off by recommending them with the patents in place.
Besides, Amazon is the obvious choice of store, lets face it so I saw an
implicit "anyone but Amazon" in the question of what online european
resellers had the book.
(*) I wrote a book about a free OS though, draw your own conclusions.
