No you don't, well, it depends on what you are running.

For example:
I recently discovered that my 512MB mandrake box (gnome 2.4, mozilla,
evolution, various small apps I use - Always running, never ever close
them.
And then I launch enemy territory or some winex3 game.

I was doing this for several weeks without noticing that I had no swap
configured at all!!!

I am currently running the same box, same apps, with 256MB as a test.
Gonna try out Paul Jackmas swappiness stuff.

It does swap with 256MB, but only slightly, e.g.: when exiting et and
maximising evolution or mozzy. Will run a few more days with default cfg,
then try swappiness. Let y'all know soon/
