That's not a lie though, that's due to to you (or the bike mag you 
read) not measuring the power in the same way. The manufacturers 
usually quote power as measured at the crankshaft, while you/bike 
mags usually quote power as measured at the rear wheel, on a rolling 
dyno. The difference is power dissipated in the gearbox (the oil 
primarily), chain and tyre rubber.

(and that the manufacturer can bench a few blue-printed engines and 
quote the best one ;) ).

Still, 105BHP to the road from a 600cc engine, on a ~200kg vehicle, 
is pretty impressive[1] ;)

1. 95HP on an 105kg vehicle is even more impressive - one day I 
*will* own an Aprilia RSV250, oh yes.
