You could try increasing it actually. Depends on how much RAM you 
have really. You need at least (bandwidth*latency[1]) for TCP to be 
able to make full use of a link, you need more to be able to 
accomodate retransmits/errors.

So, you could try bumping that middle value up a bit (RAM 
permitting), which might help performance a bit if/when your sat-link 
experiences congestion.

Google for TCP bandwidth-delay product for (vast amounts of) 
background information.

1. link latency - not RTT as ping measures. But in your case, the RTT 
figures you get will likely be dominated by sat-link latency, so your 
ping times are probably equivalent to your sat-link latency.
