Follow the path of mandrakeclub and add the commercial rpms list, it
will then pull the latest from them. I recall having downloaded
1.4.2._06 from mdk commercial urpmi last week.

Yup indeed. Reason for this is simple. Mandrake installs its java
package in a different location and keeps the version in the directory
title. Therefore, when you install an official RPM from Sun, you will
be required to symlink the new dir yourself, and i would recommend to
delete the old one as well. You are also required to symlink the java
plugin for moz yourself, it used to be in the README.
