Hi Frederick

What package do you have with Irishbroadband?

If you're using breeze (i think there's a new name for it now) you have to statically set your ip address

ifconfig eth0 62.231.32.0 255.255.255.190 gw 62.231.46.2

ifconfig = interface configuration
eth0 should be replaced with the name of your network interface
first set of numbers is the IP they gave you
second set of numbers is your netmask
gw = the gateway you want it to use
the last set of numbers is the IP address of the default gateway

If you're using Ripwave (ethernet version) you don't need drivers, they also have dynamic IP addressing (or DHCP)

In OpenBSD i type
dhclient xl1

This receives the address dynamically. replace xl1 with your interface name. If you have the USB version of ripwave send it back and demand a linux compatible one (ie ethernet)... I don't buy off anyone who doesn't support linux whether or not i choose to run windows with the device i like the option to change at will :-)
