I've only started using BSD recently enough and don't know too much
either but I believe you can compile most stuff on it no problem but
I'm using an old Pentium III 550 with 384MB and two 4GB HD's so it's
not that powerful for desktop but perfect as a server that won't be
loaded too much (bootp for XOK/ExOS and maybe other stuff too). It's
going into my attic soon enough as well since I have no screen for it.
Also I want to use linux to get accustomed to it and it's differences
from BSD because I'm very interested in os's.

I have access to broadband at university so I will be able to get the
packages I need from there and take them home with me fortunately

Unfortunately I'm not a paying customer, I'm a total freeloader but it
is pretty annoying alright. I haven't got another mail account that I
can rely on so I'll just have to accept it.

I got a copy of the Universal Live CD from a mag and already tried it
so it works but I once had a similar problem with a FreeBSD boot floppy
on a Compaq PC. Thanks for the warning though.

It's sound like a great dist from the website but I'm looking to learn
so GUI tools for admin wouldn't be the best cause they might not be
available on all systems.
