[ILUG] anyone using TCD's annoying proxy setup?

so, i've just managed to get my machine connected to
Trinity's network after many trials and tribulations. 
however, their proxy setup is just mystifying me.

what do i need to do to get apt-get up and running
behind their proxy server?  for those not in the know,
it's a User after login variety proxy.
