if by nice you mean UI-wise...
if you're using gnome, there's something called "netapplet". It was written
for suse, but i believe it was "ported" to other distros as well. It's quite
KDE has a wireles monitor thing for setting up simple wireless profiles.
There are a bunch of scripts "out there" which can be attached to
initialisation services to enable the right wireless network (trying every
avail config and stopping when an AP is detected)..
