If we can mention non-server-side solutions.. i'd reccomend gthumb.
It rocks.
Only faults i could find with were that it's hard to find were you
can specify header/footer/title text for web albums (click the '...'
button to go into the options for a theme), the image manipulation
tools preview panes are 'private' so if you have two tools open and
make change in each they'll clobber each other if you apply them
(user problem possibly, but it'd be nice if tools used a common
scratch image and preview pane) and finally, if you switch between
collection and fs views it forgets where you were.
Other than that, gthumb is /very/ easy to use, nicely laid out and
perfect for getting photos from a big jumble in a directory into
catalogued, cleaned up images in web albums.
