I don't really understand how there can be a reason to boot to Windows
in the first place.
In the office, it's understandable, but only if it's to emulate what
a potential client is doing (like - does a certain website look okay in
IE6), but to boot Windows at home is madness!
Think about it - what do you use Windows for?
Is it for the Microsoft Office suite? If so - ditch your Windows and
install a Linux box. A complaint I hear a lot about that is that a lot
of people insist on giving out .doc files. That's a stupid complaint! It
makes even more sense to insist that the format is Open Office. It runs
on more systems, and is free. /And/ it reads Word files.
Is it for the games? If so, ditch your Windows and buy a Playstation
- it's cheaper, and you won't have to study those stupid "requirements"
info-boxes on the sides of the boxes.
Is it for playing music on? If so, ditch your Windows and either buy
a Mac, or install the Planet CCRMA version of Linux.
I'm glad to say that since I switch completely to Linux at home, I've
had much less trouble than ever before - and if I break something, I
know who to blame! [1]
