The proposal is no good, because people with one time email-addresses and other spam fighting measures would be hit.
Besides that, there are people, that have more than one email-account they post from, depending on where they are,
but only are subscribed once.

Sure, they could subscribe each and every of their account, and disable mail delivery, but that's not really "fat" either.

For the mailinglists, that I host, there is a special whitelist mechanism. The lists are still open for everybody
to post to, but on the first post with a new mailaddress, that has to be confirmed. It will then be added to the whitelist.

How does that now help people with onetime email addresses etc ? The whitelist feature is recipient delimiter aware (+)
and strips that and everything from + to @ out, before looking a address up in the whitelist.

You get spam (which is quite low on ILUG) 99,9% out of the list and don't block people too much that way.

In the end it is a matter of what you prefer.
