Well there are times and places where getting others to do work for you
comes into its own. If you choose to buy a distro then you are
outsourcing some work such as bug fixes and you hope that it is done in
a way that suits you. Not for everybody but it has it's place. It is
after all a means to an end.
I used it recently to shoe horn in linux into a location that was
"scared" of it. MDK Community 10 was what the user ended up with and
they are still happy what can I tell ya? After a demo you find that
people want to have Linux installed, and that for me is the end game.
When their understanding increases enough to support themselves then
they can go for whatever they so choose.
