Unless you've been trojanned or backdoored in some fashion already - in
which case you might have a stealth service running which you don't
know about. Some of them are damned clever, requiring "knocks" on
various other ports before they listen on their main port, and hence
hard to detect using nmap etc. A firewall, while of course also
compromisable, does give extra protection against This Sort Of Thing.
