I'd heard that prism54 variants are the only modern (802.11g-capable)
wireless cards for which there are completely open-source drivers.  (In
that case, you still need to lob the equivalent of a firmware into it
at boot time, but it's OS-neutral.)

If that's available in MiniPCI form factor, then it might be a solution
for owners of recent iBooks.  (Mine has an Orinoco, so I have no
problem, as long as I'm happy with 802.11b)
