Aha.

If you add 3rd party repositories, you're relying on them to be 
administered correctly, further if you add multiple 3rd party 
repositories, you're relying on them to take care not to conflict 
with each other. Not all are, very few do.

eg ATrpms seems to cause a lot of problems, ime, so I wont use it. 
Dag apt is a lot better.
